Wilky Property Holdings, the Guildford-based developer, has struck a deal to build the UK’s largest primary health centre for the National Health Service.
The 135,000 sq ft Aldershot Centre for Health will include three GP practices, a pharmacy, dentists, diagnostics services and a minor injuries unit linked to Accident and Emergency at Frimley Park Hospital. It will be built on land under contract to Wilky, which is currently owned by the Ministry of Defence, and will include healthcare facilities for the local Army garrison.
The Blackwater Valley and Hart Primary Care Trust, which will rent the facilities from Wilky, is submitting the £30m scheme to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Strategic Health Authority for approval in mid July.
Wilky project director Malcolm Young said: “Subject to a revised planning consent, we plan to start construction in the late summer, with a view to completing the building in the first half of 2005.”
