Princess Royal to visit Aldershot Centre for health site 23-04-2004

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal will be visiting Aldershot on Friday 30 April 2004, to find out more about the proposed Aldershot Centre for Health and meet the people involved.
The briefing will take place at Hospital Hill on the planned site of the new facility, which will be the largest primary health care centre in the UK.
Debbie Glenn, PCT Chief Executive, said: “This scheme represents a significant commitment of funds for vastly improved health facilities for the people of Aldershot.”
“The project has been in development for a long time, and we are honoured that Her Royal Highness wants to find out more about it. The PCT and all its staff are looking forward to this state-of-the-art centre for health in Aldershot.”
Colonel Stephen Oxlade, Aldershot Garrison Commander, said: “We are delighted that the Princess Royal is coming to visit the site and look forward to the final negotiations being concluded.”
Malcolm Young, Chief Executive of the Centre’s locally-based developer, The Wilky Group, said: “We must acknowledge the commitment and support the project has received from the PCT, as well as from the Army, and from local organisations including the Aldershot Civic Society, as well as the local community at large.”
The scheme will create the largest Centre for Health in the UK and will include the three GP surgeries based in the existing Aldershot Health Centre, an enhanced range of ‘one-stop shop’ facilities which will provide modern primary care facilities as well as improved outpatient amenities, pharmacy, dentistry and diagnostics. This will allow patients to receive a variety of treatment in one visit. The centre will also include Army primary care services.
